Is you Samsung Galaxy Tab3 tablet not turning on or charging, don’t throw it away just do this simple fix that won’t cost you a cent apart from your time. It’s so simple anyone can do this repair.

First, try a trickle charge from a computer USB port for a few hours, or a fast 2.4 amp boost charge from a car lithium-ion jump starter. These will hopefully trick your tablet lithium ion battery into accepting a charge.

If that still does not fix your tablet from turning on, we have to get our hands dirty and open up the  Galaxy Tab3.

Tools To Fix Your Galaxy Tab3 Not Turning on or Charging Problem.

  • Plastic phone repair tool kit, or you can try some homemade tools like a credit card or a plastic knife.
  • Small plastic knife or tweezers to leaver off the battery connector.
  • 20 mins of your precious time, anyone can do this it’s easy.

Steps to Repair your Samsung Galaxy Tab3 not Turning on or Charging

how to open Samsung galaxy tab3 back plate

First remove any charging cables and place a towel on your workbench to not scratch your tablet while working on it.

Use your plastic phone tool kit or DIY credit card hack to remove the back. I just start on under the charge port and move around until it’s all apart. The video below shows them taking off the sides and backplate, which is another way to do it but the backplate only is fast and quick.

Once you have the backplate off locate the Samsung Galaxy Tab3 T210 battery cable its the lead that has the red and blue cables. Use your leaver tool to remove it. It will just pop off in an upwards direction, it’s a little bit fiddly just keep working it off. I used a metal knife but be careful not to cut any wires or short out your battery. Plastic is safer. Do this at your own risk.

Leave the lead off for about 2 minutes. Replace the battery cable buy pushing down firmly, you will hear 2 distinct clicks. With the backplate off carefully put in the Samsung T210 tablet charger and see if it starts charging. If it still won’t charge leave it off for 1 hour and try again. If it works you are good to start clamping the back plate cover back on.

You are good to go. Your Galaxy Tab 3 will now turn on and charge.

Why does my Samsung Tab 3 stop charging or won’t turn on?

Well, there is a lot of theory’s out there. Possible reasons:

  • Some say it’s a rogue app that overheats the tablet and locks it.
  • Low on memory and locks up (try deleting apps, photos, and music)
  • Firmware issues time to update.
  • Totally broken and in that case, get a new one below.
  • The battery is too low on power to start the tablet
  • The power on button is faulty, try pressing it fast a few times.

Will my Samsung Tab3 lock up again?

Most probably it will, my daughter’s Tab 3 SM-T210 8GB, has locked up 3 times in about 2 years requiring this fix. But her tablet is always low on memory so I think this is a big part of the problem.

Samsung usually makes fantastic gear, like all of their great Solid State Drives that are well-regarded. They are the only SSD drives I use in my Cheap Computer Builds so I am a little let down with this issue.

Samsung Chargers

Sometimes the charger can be the issue. Do you all run the stock charger? Is it getting old and failing due to constantly being plugged into the wall?

The internal capacitors can fail over time and not provide a proper 5v signal. I know my daughter uses a generic charger that was cheap but since upgrading to a 6 port USB Anker charger we can now all charge our phones and tablets at one time and much faster.

The Anker is one of the best 6-port smart USB chargers out on the market at the moment. At 2.4 Amps per USB output, this little beauty will charge your phones and tablets quicker than the stock chargers. Sometimes twice as fast.

The other nice feature is 110-240V power which means it will work anywhere, they even ship to Australia.

And guess what, no more Samsung Tablet lockups since we got the 6 port charger a few months ago.

Good luck with this simple tablet charging repair, so let me know below in the comment if you also have these issues.
